Key Responsibilities">

  • Operate multiple CNC machines, including four and five-axis mills, lathes, and mill-turn equipment.">
  • Design and machine complex tooling and fixtures as necessary.">
  • Collaborate with CNC programmers and engineers to establish key dimensions for trended parts.">
  • Adjust programs or reprogram parts according to approved Production Control Records (PCRs).">
  • Set up, troubleshoot, and operate various machines, including CNC lathe, CNC mill, bandsaw, manual mill, and manual drill press.">
  • Read and interpret technical drawings to set up parts correctly.">
  • Transfer CNC programs between CNC equipment as needed.">
  • Maintain Tool Life Management across the cell and in respective machines with automated systems.">
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering and Programming to prove out programs, standardize them, and make minor changes according to established procedures.">
  • Enhance and follow approved work instructions and drawings provided.">
  • Achieve 100% first-time throughput on setups and expedited through the Quality Control department.">
  • Follow MCS and complete sign-offs as required.">
  • Perform basic machine adjustments if necessary, such as tool offsets.">
  • Set tools according to Tooling Set Sheets.">
  • Verify machined parts using technical drawings.">
  • Complete PCRs to indicate process deficiencies or suggest continuous improvement recommendations.">
  • Adhere to tool life replacement programs.">
  • Inspect parts visually or mechanically for defects, record results, and notify the lead or supervisor as needed.">
  • Use measuring and inspection tools, including micrometers, calipers, profilometer, height gauge, indicators, edge finders, thread gauges, pin gauges, and bore gauges with master rings.">
  • Meet or exceed production and quality standards while minimizing reject rates.">
  • Perform simple machine preventative maintenance functions, such as checking coolants, lubricants, and filters.">
  • Keep machines and work areas clean and notify the supervisor or maintenance when machine abnormalities occur.">
  • Use computer systems for basic departmental transactions.">
  • Safely move components using lifting devices like overhead cranes, jib cranes, and fork-lifts.">
">Required Skills and Qualifications">

  • Demonstrate proficiency in operating various BWXT machines and working on multiple BWXT parts of varying complexity.">
  • Possess educational background in manufacturing or equivalent experience working on CNC machines.">
  • Holding a Certificate of Qualification as a CNC Machinist is an asset.">
  • Have at least 5 years of experience running four and five-axis CNC mills, multi-axis lathes, long lathes, and/or mill-turn machines.">
  • Familiarity with the aerospace, defense, or nuclear industry is highly valued.">
  • Able to read and interpret engineering component drawings, including a strong understanding of metrology and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).">
  • Demonstrate adaptability as a team player with strong communication and problem-solving skills.">
  • Ability to work independently, completing assignments promptly while maintaining high standards.">
  • Familiarity with lifting devices, such as cranes and forklifts.">
