About the Role
Cansel is seeking a skilled Geomatics Technologist to join our team. As a Geomatics Technologist, you will be responsible for utilizing advanced technologies, including surveying instruments, GNSS systems, remote sensing tools, and geographic information system (GIS) to collect, process, and interpret geospatial data.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field surveys and measurements using surveying equipment and GNSS technology.
- Process geospatial data collected from various sources, including aerial imagery, LiDAR, and satellite data.
- Create and manage geospatial databases to support project planning and decision-making.
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of geospatial measurements.
- Adhere to relevant standards, regulations, and best practices in geomatics and surveying.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including engineers, planners, and environmental scientists to integrate geospatial information into project workflow and decision-making.
- Provide technical support and guidance to geomatics engineers on data collection methodologies, analysis, and interpretation.
- Deliver trainings and webinars to support geomatics engineering and land surveying projects.
- Research and implement innovative surveying technology solutions to improve efficiency and accuracy in geospatial data analysis.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- An engineering degree in Geomatics or a closely related discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience.
- Hands-on experience with surveying instruments, GNSS receivers, and remote sensing platforms.
- Demonstrated proficiency in surveying software applications such as Trimble Business Center.
- A demonstrated ability to solve complex surveying problems with strong analytical skills, including troubleshooting geospatial data issues.
- Ability to communicate effectively and lead others in geomatics engineering concepts, standards, and computations.
- Self-motivation with the capability to work independently.
- Ability to work on multiple activities/projects simultaneously and effectively prioritize deadlines and competing tasks in fast-paced environments with organized work habits and scheduling.
- Occasional business travel may be required.
Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
- 3+ years of experience working with GIS data.
- 2+ years of experience developing and executing scripts or models for data manipulation and spatial analysis in Python, R, or other programming languages.
- 2+ years of experience working with LiDAR and Mobile Mapping data.
- 1+ year of experience with professional services and technical support.
- Background experience with Trimble products.
