We are seeking a skilled Winter Equipment Operator to join our team in Halifax Suburban. As a spare classification, you will be responsible for operating snow removal equipment such as snowplows, graders, and loaders. This includes general maintenance of the equipment, pre-and-post trip inspections, and daily logs.
Key Responsibilities- Operate snow removal equipment such as snowplows, graders, and loaders
- Perform general maintenance of equipment, including pre-and-post trip inspections and daily logs
- Work in all weather conditions and be flexible with scheduling
- Provide excellent customer service and work in a team environment
- Two years of experience or an acceptable equivalency of education, training, and relevant experience
- Minimum of Class III license with air brake endorsement
- Reading and writing skills to understand department documentation and complete daily logs, inspection reports, etc.
- A professional driving course from a recognized truck driving training facility
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems and mechanical skills
- Training completed at any accredited heavy/commercial equipment training institute
- Previous experience driving a manual transmission, operating trucks with salt and plow equipment, and/or knowledge of salt spreading systems
We offer a competitive salary range of $23.65 hourly and a 90-hour wage schedule with a premium of $0.95 per hour for the duration of the winter season. You will also have the opportunity to work in a dynamic team environment and develop your skills and experience in snow removal operations.
