Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Hydrogen Fuel Cell Technician to join our team at Plug Power. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting our fuel cell products installed in electric lift trucks, performing preventative maintenance and resolving breakdowns.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance and service of fuel cells at customer sites, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, and evaluations to maintain the fleet at a specific location, utilizing your technical skills and knowledge of electrical systems.
  • Specialized service procedures, including field retrofits and software and hardware upgrades to existing fuel cells, demonstrating your expertise in hydrogen fuel cell technology.
  • Providing on-call and emergency support service to customers as required, showcasing your ability to work under pressure and respond to critical situations.
  • Purchasing tools, equipment, and parts for customer service and support as required, managing inventory and resources effectively.
  • May require troubleshooting and maintenance of high-pressure hydrogen storage, 480VAC, flammability, cryogenic liquid, high pressure gas and fueling systems, requiring a deep understanding of safety protocols and regulations.
  • May include maintaining ongoing communication with customer personnel and hydrogen suppliers regarding aftermarket support of fuel cells, fostering strong relationships and ensuring seamless collaboration.
  • Providing regular feedback to regional service representatives regarding fuel cell performance and field maintenance issues, contributing to continuous improvement and quality assurance.
  • Completing administrative duties & documentation, including incident reports, service logs, inventory maintenance, and site and system documentation, ensuring accurate and timely record-keeping.
  • Exhibiting and enforcing safety procedures in the field or customer sites, prioritizing employee and customer safety above all else.
  • Travel as required for business needs; expected to drive safely and to adhere to all traffic laws, adhering to company policies and regulations.
  • Represent Plug Power in a professional manner at all times and in all interactions, upholding the company's values and reputation.
Requirements
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent with technical electrical coursework, demonstrating a solid foundation in electrical principles.
  • Three (3) or more years of direct experience in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, showcasing hands-on expertise and problem-solving skills.
  • Formal training and education may be also considered in lieu of direct experience, highlighting alternative paths to acquiring relevant knowledge and skills.
  • Must possess a valid driver license, a clean driving record, and the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle, ensuring reliable transportation and compliance with road safety regulations.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis unassisted, meeting physical demands and requirements of the job.
  • Knowledge of lift truck operation and applications is highly preferred, indicating a deeper understanding of related technologies and workflows.
  • General mechanical aptitude is required, encompassing basic knowledge of mechanical systems and components.
  • Computer and software systems skills as applicable to position including but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook, ensuring proficiency in common office productivity tools.
  • Dynamic interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences and stakeholders at all levels, facilitating clear and concise communication.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, conveying complex ideas and information accurately and efficiently.
  • Creativity in solving technical problems, approaching challenges with innovative thinking and resourcefulness.

Salary Information

The estimated salary range for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 per year, based on industry standards and market conditions. This figure may vary depending on factors such as location, experience, and qualifications.
