About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining Power BI dataflows, semantic models, dashboards, and reports to provide actionable insights to stakeholders.

This role supports the analysis and strategy functions of Global Banking and Markets using Client MIS data. The incumbent will be heavily involved with data modeling, data extraction, manipulation, mapping, query & database design, and must be capable of developing new tools and analysis to support the needs of GBM and GBM Executives.

  • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dataflows, semantic models, dashboards, and reports to provide actionable insights to stakeholders
  • Create and maintain data models to support analytics and reporting needs, ensuring data integrity and consistency
  • Design and create processes and automation to efficiently extract, load, and transform data
  • Build new analytics models and tools to support business needs
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis, interpret results, and provide recommendations
  • Review, maintain, and develop algorithms implemented in current tools and processes
  • Research and implement best practices for data modeling and analytics
  • Support ad hoc requests from Executive Management, auditors, regulators, ratings agencies, research analysts, and other external parties as required
  • Contribute to an environment in which the team works together to produce creative and value-added strategic analyses while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Undergraduate degree in economics, math, computer science, or a related field
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience in capital markets, finance, IT, reporting, or analytics
  • Driven self-starter with a demonstrated high level of sustained initiative, ability to apply strategic critical thinking to business issues, and deliver results
  • Strong curiosity and creativity: an innate drive to ask questions, explore new possibilities, and develop innovative solutions when conventional methods fall short
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills with a proven ability to interpret data, spot patterns and anomalies, and provide insights
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Results-driven and able to grasp and communicate complex ideas clearly
  • Comfortable working with all levels of management across the organization
  • Extensive understanding of data and experience working with multi-million row datasets
  • Knowledge of algorithm design is a plus
  • Experienced with Power BI and Power BI Service (primarily Power Query and M, Data Model Design, and DAX; report building is an asset), data mining, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Expert knowledge of SQL and Python; experience developing applications
  • Strong understanding of and practical experience with modern entity resolution techniques
