About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our Project Management team in Ottawa. The ideal candidate will have experience in all phases of the project lifecycle on complex projects and have a good understanding and demonstration of Project Management methodologies.
The candidate will provide Project Management support to Senior Project Managers and their projects, including organization and scheduling of projects, interface with engineering leads, assistance with work effort and estimations, cost tracking, balancing cashflow, and ensuring work gets executed according to schedule.
Key Responsibilities- Project Organization and Scheduling: Organize and schedule projects, and interface with engineering leads to assist in the definition of project activities.
- Work Effort and Estimations: Assist with work effort and estimations to ensure accurate project planning.
- Cost Tracking and Control: Track and control project costs, balancing cashflow and ensuring work gets executed according to schedule.
- Ongoing Cost and Schedule Control: Perform ongoing cost and schedule control activities, associated with Earned Value Management.
- Schedule Tracking and Earned Value Dashboards: Manage the tools for schedule tracking and Earned Value dashboards.
- Contract Management and Customer Interface: Manage contracts and interface with customers and vendors.
- Reporting to Senior Management: Report to senior management on project status.
- Workshop Chairing: Chair workshops between engineering disciplines.
- Education: Engineering Bachelor's Degree, Mechanical, Electrical or Software Engineering or equivalent technical experience.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in a Project Management position.
- Scheduling and Estimation: Minimum 3 years of experience with scheduling and task estimation.
- Risk and Opportunity Management: Experience with risk and opportunity and change management processes.
- Teamwork and Communication: Effective teamwork skills (customer teams, colleagues in Project Management, internal services and external suppliers).
- Procurement and Finance: Demonstrated experience in procurement, finance, results reporting to management and client relationship management in a project management environment.
- Design and Engineering Progress: Experience with tracking design and engineering progress.
- Flexibility and Adaptability: Flexibility in accepting various assignments in evolving contractual situations.
- Naval Communications and Defence Procurement: Naval Communications & Defence procurement experience an asset.
- Bids and Proposals: Bids and Proposals experience an asset.
- Project Management Accreditation: Demonstration of project management accreditation (PMP) desirable.
- Earned Value Management: Experience with Earned Value Management including a good understanding of translating activities and work, into working dashboards and reporting.
- Customer Interface and Contract Management: Experience working with customers and a good understanding of Firm-Fixed Price and Time & Materials contracts.
- Personality and Problem-Solving: Personable with an inquiring mind and an attitude towards problem solving in a fast-paced team environment.
- Controlled Goods Program: Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program.
- Government of Canada Reliability Status: Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada Reliability status and Secret Level 2/NATO Secret security clearance.
- U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR): Must be eligible to meet the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
