About the Role

The Electrical Safety Director at Western Pacific Enterprises oversees a departmental function within our Safety Department. This leader creates and implements strategies to manage safety programs, standards, and procedures to minimize potential accidents and injuries. Direct supervision of safety staff within their respective regions is also a key responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Create and maintain a high-performing team that supports WPE operational groups in all aspects of safety
  2. Lead and direct the work of other employees and have authority for personnel decisions in conjunction with business unit leadership
  3. Ensure development plans are in place for safety managers and specialists
  4. Guarantee adequate safety staffing within districts
  5. Ensure compliance with internal safety policies and federal, state, and local laws and regulations
  6. Administer departmental policies and procedures, evaluate results, and direct the development of new or modified budgets, strategic plans, or policies
  7. Claims management
  8. Collaborate with provincial associations on advocacy for laws and regulations
  9. Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, or local statutes or regulations, including OSHA
  10. Enforce organizational safety programs and policies to prevent injuries, fires, or workplace accidents
  11. Direct the identification and mitigation of potential safety hazards, develop and deliver safety training programs, or investigate accidents and incidents
  12. Collaborate with senior leaders to align departmental strategy or direction with the organization's overall goals
  13. Consistently communicate with operations management to understand and respond to their needs

Additional Responsibilities

  1. Establish a portfolio of safety programs and plans to support key customers of specific business units, aligned with WPE and customer safety requirements
  2. Develop guidelines for collecting and maintaining employee training records, health/safety manuals, incident/accident reports, or other documentation
  3. Audit processes to identify weaknesses or risks and proactively develop and implement corrective actions; ensure appropriate investigation of and response to accidents or injuries
  4. Work as a liaison with districts and legal during designated accident investigations
  5. Coordinate support during SAT investigations
  6. Perform other duties as assigned

About You

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in occupational safety and health operations in the construction industry, including 5 years of management experience
  • Safety-related certifications preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in safety management, construction management, or a related field; combination of relevant education and experience considered in lieu of degree
