Job Title: Attendant for Persons with Disabilities

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as an Attendant for Persons with Disabilities at the Janine Wigmore Society. As a key member of our care team, you will provide personalized support and care to adults with disabilities in their own homes.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a range of care and support services, including personal care, household management, and companionship. You will work closely with our clients to understand their unique needs and preferences, and develop a personalized care plan to meet their requirements.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide personal care and support to adults with disabilities, including bathing, dressing, and grooming
  • Assist with household management tasks, such as laundry, cleaning, and meal preparation
  • Offer companionship and social support to clients, engaging in activities such as conversation, reading, and watching movies
  • Administer medications and provide medical care as required
  • Assist with mobility and transfers, using equipment such as wheelchairs and walkers
  • Provide emotional support and comfort to clients, promoting their independence and well-being
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous experience working with adults with disabilities an asset
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Physical ability to perform tasks that require standing, walking, and lifting
