GFL Environmental is seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Victoria, British Columbia.

Our maintenance department is responsible for over 150 on-road collection and support vehicles in the Victoria area. We pride ourselves on completing most repairs in-house, utilizing a diverse range of complex units. As a GFL technician, you will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology, including Telematics and Software, to enhance productivity and efficiency.

Shift Schedule


• 4x10hr shifts on a 2-week rotation


• Monday-Thursday, 7am-5:30pm


• Monday-Thursday, 10am-8:30pm


• Wednesday-Saturday, 7am-5:30pm


• Tuesday-Friday, 10am-8:30pm

Shift highlights include 5 consecutive days off every 8 weeks and never less than 2 consecutive days off on any rotational switch.

Key Responsibilities


• Safely repair, rebuild, and perform maintenance on Company-owned or leased heavy-duty diesel trucks and equipment.


• Maintain Standard Repair Times.


• Assist Shop Lead Hands in training and growing our apprentice base.


• Complete thorough and accurate Preventative Maintenance forms.


• Keep accurate work notes and complete work orders on time in the Fleet Management Software system.


• Effectively repair and communicate with drivers through use of Electronic DVIRs.


• Be reliable, responsible for your work, and have the right attitude to perform assigned tasks.


• Take direction and communicate well with shift Supervisor or Lead Hand.


• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management.

Requirements


• Red Seal Certification or equivalent qualification in Commercial Transport Mechanics.


• Hydraulic diagnostic and experience.


• Cummins, Mack, and Allison experience preferred.


• Cummins Insite, Mack Tech Tool, Allison DOC, and Isuzu IDSS software experience.


• Basic hand tools up to and including 1/2".
