About the Role
The Facilities, Ground Support Equipment (GSE) & Tooling Manager is a key member of our team at IMP Group, responsible for ensuring the cost-effective operation and efficient condition of all our owned or leased buildings, ground support equipment, and tooling.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day activities of the facilities, GSE, and tooling staff to ensure the department's objectives are aligned with our overall business plans and strategies.
- Initiate and monitor preventative, regular, and emergency maintenance activities for all building, structures, properties, building equipment, ground support equipment, vehicles, and tooling.
- Manage the collection, processing, and disposal of hazardous waste products generated throughout the facility, in accordance with government regulations.
- Be familiar with and ensure that all workplace conduct is in accordance with our Human Resources safety and security policies and procedures and fulfill the requirements of our employment equity program.
- Manage capital building renovation and new construction projects at IMP Group.
- Estimate costs of operational and capital projects related to the facilities.
- Prepare and monitor operational and capital annual budgets and approve expenditures within a given level of authority.
- Review utility service requirements, systems, and billing to ensure effective energy utilization and conservation.
- Develop and recommend policies and procedures to meet the aerospace regulatory requirements in a cost-effective and efficient manner for our facilities, ground support equipment, and tooling.
- Negotiate building service contracts for outside services in support of building maintenance and develop performance criteria to evaluate their performance.
- Purchase or lease special ground support equipment to support production requirements.
- Manage the tool crib policies and procedures ensuring compliance with all regulatory and customer requirements related to tooling, including calibration.
- Communicate with other IMP Group Managers to establish appropriate facilities, GSE, and tooling support for new and existing business objectives.
- Develop and implement effective Facilities, GSE, and Tooling maintenance plans that meet the applicable requirements/standards (such as NFPA 409), and delegate authority and responsibilities to the appropriate staff members.
- Review staff's daily and weekly activity reports and troubleshoot any persistent problems.
- Determine Facilities maintenance, GSE, and tooling staffing requirements, hire new personnel, and establish and direct training requirements of new and existing staff.
- Complete employee performance appraisals of department employees on an annual basis.
- Prepare and issue reports and recommendations to Senior Management regarding facilities, GSE, and tooling related issues.
- Ensure all IMP Group Health and Safety procedures are followed and that safety equipment is available and used properly.
- Liaise with external Government agencies to ensure the facility is operated in accordance with Federal, Provincial, and Municipal environmental regulations.
- Attend Occupational Health and Safety committee meetings as a management representative and consultant to resolve employee and facility safety issues.
- Coordinate inspections and service to building-related safety equipment.
- Support the Emergency Response Group as a member of the Emergency Response team.
- Demonstrated leadership skills that inspire team confidence and respect.
- Demonstrated Project and Budget management experience.
- Excellent communication skills: verbal and written.
- Experience and skill in the supervision and management of staff.
- Proven ability to present to senior-level management.
- Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite applications.
- Ability to consistently demonstrate excellent initiative and determination.
Requirements
- Grade 12 Diploma.
- Engineering Degree or RED SEAL Trades Certification, preferred.
- 5 years of experience working with Building, Fire, and Labour Codes, Occupational Health and Safety, and Industrial Environmental Regulations.
- 5 years of experience working with building service systems, H.V.A.C. electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- 5 years of experience coordinating several maintenance and construction projects concurrently.
- 5 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
- 3 years of experience managing aerospace tooling, including calibration.
- 3 years of experience managing an aerospace facility and aircraft support equipment.
