Job Summary

The Estimator role is responsible for accurately costing and processing customer quotes in a timely manner for the Sales Department. This position provides technical support to the Sales team and the Design Engineering department, reporting directly to the VP, Sales.

Key Responsibilities
  • Creating layouts and mold concepts in CAD to estimate costs based on customer design requests
  • Collaborating with the Sales team to develop quotes that result in profitable orders
  • Preparing timely estimates of costs for materials, labor, and equipment for manufacturing projects
  • Familiarity with all manufacturing processes to ensure accurate quoting
  • Negotiating project costs with vendors and subcontractors
  • Communicating technical aspects of mold concepts to sales and engineering teams
  • Working cross-functionally with sales, engineering, manufacturing, planning, scheduling, and supply chain to resolve manufacturing and costing issues
Requirements
  • Post-Secondary education in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in an estimating role within the injection mold industry
  • Experience in thin wall, closure, and custom injection molds
  • Strong experience in mold assembly design and CAD technology
  • Exposure to machining practices, process planning, and subcontracting experience
  • Strong understanding of business concepts, including gross margins and job costing
