About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Survey Assistant to join our team at GeoVerra. As a Survey Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting our surveying operations in the field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with various tasks as required, including tracking and maintaining housekeeping of tools, equipment, and materials at project sites, office, and in crew vehicles.
  • Support a positive and professional team atmosphere and act as a positive ambassador for the company.
  • Assist the Crew Chief in achieving project timelines and deliverables.
  • Complete mandatory safety training and practice competent operation of all equipment and tasks.
  • Adhere to, without exception, the safety requirements of the client, OH&S, and the GeoVerra Safety program.
  • Actively participate in Emergency Response Planning, Hazard Assessment, Job Safety Analysis development, daily tailgate meetings, and comply with all safety requirements.

Requirements:

  • Diploma/Degree in Geomatics or Civil Engineering Technology, or related discipline preferred, not required.
  • Previous experience in Surveying or other related types of work in the great outdoors.
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly for the client, project, and GeoVerra requirements.
  • Commitment to respond to situations that occur outside traditional working hours.
  • Capacity to take directions and communicate effectively.
  • An understanding of survey methodologies is considered an asset.
  • A valid Class 5 driver's license and a clean driver's abstract.
  • Completed training and valid tickets in First Aid, H2S, and CSTS safety training is an asset.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol screening as per the limits provided in the Canadian Model for Providing a Safe Workplace.

Working Conditions:

  • Out-of-town work (possible shift work) and frequent travel required.
  • Ability to carry, lift, and push up to 50lbs on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
