Job Title: Powerline Technician

Spark Power is seeking a skilled Powerline Technician to join our team in Belleville, Ontario. As a Powerline Technician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing overhead and underground electrical systems, including power lines and cables, and street lighting systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure a safe and healthy working environment for all employees by upholding local and company H&S requirements and initiatives.
  • Conduct self in a professional manner with internal team members and customers.
  • Install, maintain, and repair overhead and underground electrical systems, including power lines and cables, and street lighting systems.
  • Connect and insulate conductors and related wiring.
  • Climb ladders or operate hydraulic buckets when working on poles and towers.
  • Ensure quality workmanship by conducting inspections of completed work, analyzing drawings to verify compliance with job requirements and applicable related codes/regulations.
  • Coordinate with local electrical inspection governance to have work correctly approved per the local code requirements.
  • Inventory control.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Certification as a Powerline Technician Journeyperson, including successful completion of MEARIE or IHSA Powerline Technician Training Program (434A Red Seal Powerline Technician) or equivalent.
  • Ability to operate bucket trucks, radial boom derricks, hydraulic equipment, and all other tools used in line maintenance and construction.
  • Familiarity with and ability to carry out live line work practices and techniques on the systems, including stick work, and rubber glove techniques.
  • Valid Driver's License (DZ or AZ).
  • Must be able to provide a certificate of Powerline Technician qualification.
  • Prior training in Working at Heights, Pole Top and Bucket Rescue, Bucket Evacuation.
