About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Architect to join our infrastructure team in the Northern Engineering Sector, based in our Thunder Bay office. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for:

  1. Preparing construction documents in coordination with multi-discipline project teams of architects and engineers.
  2. Coordinating project requirements and development of construction documents with subconsultants.
  3. Monitoring the timeliness and quality of architectural technical document submissions to clients and other project stakeholders.
  4. Performing code reviews and meeting independently with local code officials to review and determine specific local code requirements and project compliance.
  5. Managing the preparation of all architectural technical document packages and related submittals related to planning, obtaining approvals, and specifications.
  6. Identifying and managing project risks and associated mitigation measures.
  7. Performing bid phase and construction phase tasks, including site visits, review of shop drawings, responding to requests for information, and issuing clarifications.
  8. Supporting proposal stage on projects, RFPs, and client requests.
  9. Leading the development of design alternatives using various media, including computer visualization and physical models.
  10. Ensuring that both internal and external client needs are met and that projects are delivered within cost, quality, and schedule targets.
  11. Leading and/or participating in regular project meetings and ensuring that stakeholders are well-informed on project progress and best efforts are exerted in meeting their needs.
  12. Leading the development of presentation documents and making design presentations to clients.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  1. A degree in architecture from an accredited university.
  2. At least 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  3. Demonstrated ability to use computer software for design.
  4. Detailed knowledge of all phases of architectural and engineering practice.
  5. Proficiency in the production of contract documents, including technical specifications.
  6. Proficiency in production with Revit and AutoCAD.
  7. Experience working on medium-sized projects.
  8. Experience with Sketchup, Photoshop, 3D Studio, Rhino, V-Ray, and other imaging and rendering software.
  9. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and experience liaising with clients.
  10. Detailed knowledge of building construction systems, means, and methods, materials, and industry-associated standards.
