Job Summary

Spectrum Health Care Inc is seeking a highly skilled Advanced Foot Health Specialist to provide specialized nursing care to patients with foot-related health issues in clinic settings, retirement homes, Long Term Care homes, and/or clients' private homes.

This role will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating a wide range of foot conditions, with an emphasis on preventing complications and improving patient outcomes. About the Role
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform thorough foot assessments, identify risk factors, and develop individualized care plans according to evidence-based practices.
  • Provide preventive care and treatment for foot conditions, including managing skin issues, trimming nails, addressing calluses, and treating ulcers and wounds.
  • Implement strategies for pressure relief and offloading, particularly for high-risk patients.
  • Educate patients on daily foot care, proper hygiene, and appropriate footwear, offering counselling and support to promote overall foot health.
  • Follow strict infection control protocols and adhere to best practices for infection prevention, particularly when managing high-risk populations.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care and maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records.
Requirements
  • CURRENTLY REGISTERED AND IN GOOD STANDING WITH THE COLLEGE OF NURSES OF ONTARIO (CNO)
  • Advanced and Diabetic Foot Care certificate required
  • Prior experience in foot care is an asset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid G driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Ability to effectively manage time and priorities
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Computer knowledge and ability to learn proprietary software. Proficiency in Microsoft Word preferred
  • Fluency in a second language is an asset
