Job Title: Counselor

We are seeking a qualified Counselor to join our team at Westview Public School. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to students, teachers, and parents to ensure a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual and group counseling to students to address academic, social, and emotional needs
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement individualized education plans
  • Support parents and guardians to ensure they are informed and involved in their child's education
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community agencies and organizations to provide additional support services
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in counseling and education
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Education - Elementary
  • Knowledge of primary curriculum and teaching experience at those levels/subject areas
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and classroom management skills
  • Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents
Desired Qualifications:
  • Child-centered approach to instruction and building positive teacher-student relationships
  • Effective organizational skills and classroom management
  • Knowledge of primary curriculum
  • Skilled in differentiating instruction
  • Knowledge of designing and implementing Individualized Program Plans for students with special needs
  • Ability to lead, manage and coordinate Educational Assistants in their support roles
  • Ability to liaise and work with district FMPSD Education Department, Coordinators and Consultants
  • Ability and commitment to work with school and division colleagues in professional learning activities
  • Ability to establish productive relationships with staff and parents
  • Commitment to continuous professional growth
  • Commitment to Assessment for Learning model

  • Willingness to participate in the school community beyond the classroom
