Smith + Andersen is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Associate to join our team in Calgary. As a key member of our Electrical team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality electrical design solutions to our clients.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and manage electrical design concepts and reports, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
- Collaborate with internal and external project teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Prepare and review technical documents, including calculations, drawings, and specifications.
- Lead and participate in project meetings, ensuring effective communication with clients and stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, identifying opportunities to increase satisfaction and deepen relationships.
- Contribute to business development and proposal efforts, writing responses to Requests for Proposal (RFPs).
- Participate in human resources-related activities, including recruitment, employee development, and performance appraisals.
- Eight or more years of project engineering experience in electrical building services, specifically including tenant experience.
- Possess Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation or P.L.Eng designations in good standing with APEGA.
- Strong knowledge of Codes and Standards relevant for the project, with ability to communicate requirements to internal and external project teams.
- Experience with construction project procurement methodologies and ability to recommend or apply such methods for the project.
- LEED Green Associate or specialty designation, or obtain a LEED Green Associate designation within 6 months of start of employment.
- Knowledgeable about provincial building code, electrical code, ASHRAE, CSA, and NFPA standards.
- Demonstrate strong leadership qualities and ability to work independently.
- Demonstrate ability to work in complex environment, dealing with multiple projects and clients.
- Possess sound communications skills, as demonstrated through client and staff relations.
- Demonstrate experience working with other consultants and contractors, and coordination of major projects.
- Demonstrate ability to deliver professional presentations and chair meetings with clients and at industry events.
- Demonstrate ability to develop lasting relationships with clients that foster strong client ties.
