About the Opportunity

The Royal Conservatory is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Membership and Fundraising Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for raising funds in support of our organization and its programs through the planning and execution of exceptional fundraising events and the implementation of an engaging membership program.

Main Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize and execute fundraising events aligned with organizational objectives, securing sponsors, table and ticket purchasers, and ensuring successful execution.
  • Develop, grow, and manage The Conservatory Circle, our integrated mid-level donor program, through a series of annual events.
  • Work collaboratively with volunteers on the Conservatory Circle Committee to develop the prospect pipeline, secure renewals and upgrades, and deliver a program of events that effectively stewards and engages prospects and donors.
  • Develop and execute exemplary fundraising and engagement plans and strategies to meet revenue objectives for event fundraising.
  • Manage and execute all aspects of fundraising event organization, including event ideation, budget, sales, sponsorship, in-kind contributions, critical path, logistics, programming, and volunteers.
  • Secure sponsorships and gifts, conduct event ticket sales, and coordinate solicitations independently and within a broader senior volunteer and staff team.
  • Oversee and work in cooperation with RCM departments responsible for event logistics and negotiate and manage contracts with external suppliers when needed.
  • Develop, evaluate, and propose new event ideas and initiatives to support revenue generation and ensure all events are evaluated with a view to appropriateness, feasibility, and cost effectiveness.
  • Manage a portfolio of existing and potential fundraising events within annual budget allocation.
  • Work in conjunction with the Senior Director, Annual Giving on the recruitment, development, and ongoing management and support of senior volunteers, committees, and event volunteers to support events.
  • Develop a comprehensive prospect pipeline and implement new initiatives to broaden the RCM events demographic.
  • Identify and develop data and reporting tools needed to ensure effective and comprehensive event planning, execution, and analysis.

Requirements

  • Minimum seven years of relevant experience and a proven track record in professional fundraising and development, including demonstrated experience specializing in event fundraising and membership programs.
  • Direct fundraising event management experience, including working with and supporting senior volunteers and committees, budgeting, record keeping, and all logistical aspects of an event.
  • Strong negotiation and sales skills, combined with a demonstrated ability to successfully build relationships with corporate decision-makers, solicit sponsorships, and develop opportunities for support.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work with confidential information.
  • Ability to take initiative, manage multiple projects, and thrive in a deadline-driven environment, along with the ability to think strategically and creatively solve problems independently in a timely fashion.
  • Strong commitment to exceptional work quality and ethics, high degree of professionalism, ability to set priorities and achieve goals, strong sense of personal accountability.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, exhibits sound judgment and tact, work effectively and collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders, including volunteers, donors, staff, and vendors.
  • Experience working with fundraising metrics, including the ability to analyze data to create and advance strategic fundraising plans.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat Reader, and high degree of comfort with using a donor database for tracking prospect activity. Raiser's Edge experience considered an asset.
  • Experience with donation receipting and CRA rulings as it relates to events (tickets, sponsorships, and gifts-in-kind).
  • CFRE designation considered an asset.

Able to support the department by attending events occurring on weekday evenings and weekends.
