SalaryThe salary range for this position is estimated to be CAD $62,921 - $94,118 per year, based on the job title, location, and industry standards.
Job DescriptionAs an Associate Physician, Spine Surgery with Vancouver Coastal Health, you will manage pre-operative, post-operative, and non-operative Spine patients in the inpatient, outpatient, and emergency room setting under the supervision of the attending surgeon. Your responsibilities will include coordinating day-to-day care of Spine patients, developing treatment plans, following through on investigations, performing and documenting admission history and physical examinations, progress notes, discharge summaries, and medication reconciliation.
You will also assist in spine surgical procedures, perform basic bedside procedures, communicate regularly with the attending Spine surgeon, and participate in patient rounds, morbidity and mortality rounds, and other educational sessions. Additionally, you will be responsible for participating in quality improvement projects, complying with AP programs CPD reporting requirements, and maintaining your professional development activities.
Required Skills and Qualifications- Demonstrated knowledge and skills to diagnose and manage common issues arising in perioperative Spine surgery patients.
- Ability to work within the scope of AP duties and responsibilities and interact effectively with other professionals in complex, dynamic situations.
- Confidence and experience in recognizing and initiating response to emergency situations.
- Excellent English communication skills, including with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Computer and written communication skills, including order entry, clinical documentation, and review of relevant diagnostic information and health history.
- Ability to carry out professional duties in the face of multiple, competing demands.
Ongoing employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a 12-week probationary period, subject to six-month and annual reviews. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in a team-based environment, working collaboratively with experienced professionals.
