Job Overview

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is seeking a skilled Service Trades Maintainer to join our team. As a Service Trades Maintainer, you will be responsible for performing civil trade duties to build, maintain, and repair associated structures and equipment within generating facilities, properties, and waterways.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, fabricate, commission, inspect, troubleshoot, service, and maintain minor mechanical equipment and components associated with generating units/stations and facilities.
  • Perform tasks applying trade skills of painting, carpentry, welding, plumbing, masonry, lagging & insulating, scaffolding, and general maintenance.
  • Carry out rigging and craning, using both fixed and moveable cranes, and attend to general maintenance and inspection of this equipment.
  • Maintain and operate machines and shop tools required to carry out work assignments.
  • Operate forklifts, mobile and stationary cranes, and trucks.
  • Perform work protection code (WPC) activities up to the level trained.
  • Carry out contract monitoring, including inspection, to ensure effective quality assurance associated with maintenance or installation of new or replacement of existing systems.
  • Prepare mechanical and civil sketches, and bills of material, and carry out document maintenance activities.
  • Perform diver-surface support duties and engine-person/deck hand duties on large marine vessels, to the level trained.
  • Accountable for the health, safety, and well-being of self and others, in accordance with technical/operating procedures and standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience working in industrial maintenance environment.
  • Experience communicating with suppliers/contractors.
  • Skilled Trades Certificate is considered an asset – Carpentry, Plumbing & Scaffolding.
