Critical Facilities Controls Engineer

This role involves performing data center systems maintenance and support. You will participate on internal and external project teams, including the design engineering, site engineering, regional operations teams, onsite support vendors, and consultants on projects, policies, and procedures within a diverse scope.

ResponsibilitiesSystem Operation and Work Practices
  • You will operate knowledge of control systems to include diagnostics and repairs.
  • Apply your knowledge of Equinix process and procedure and industry standards to resolve diverse issues.
  • Use safe working practices (e.g. can apply procedure for lockout/tag out, familiar with MSDS, etc.).
Problem Solving
  • Solve diverse, cross-functional issues requiring action and initiative to resolve.
  • Implement and make recommendations for system level improvements to eliminate potential problems.
  • Test suitability of components for deployments.
Internal/External Contact
  • Participate in projects or initiatives including General Contractors, design teams, commissioning agents, equipment suppliers, etc.
  • Develop and maintain multi-functional SOPs and relevant technical writing.
  • Interact primarily with departments within the organization.
  • Maintain executive-level communications in standardized templates.
Technical Expertise
  • Understand typical data center electrical, fire protection, and HVAC system operation including typical optimization strategies and deficiencies.
  • Controls system knowledge, P&ID, SOO, controls schematics.
  • Routine query execution in SQL and interpretation of relevant data.
  • HMI and PLC programming.
  • PID tuning.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in controls engineering diagnostic, repair, and design with HMI programming, Windows network level authentication, and PID tuning.
  • Preferring environmental/HVAC systems experience.
  • Preferring critical facilities, especially data center, experience.
  • Preferring a BSEE degree.
  • Familiarity with AVEVA system platform and Allen-Bradley PLC is beneficial.

The estimated salary range for this position is $80,000-$120,000 per year. This amount is based on the job's responsibilities, required skills, and qualifications, as well as general market conditions in the United States.
