About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Clerk to join our team in Financial Services. As an Accounting Clerk, you will be responsible for carrying out assigned functional accounting and maintaining the integrity of information within the accounting subsystems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out assigned functional accounting tasks
  • Maintain the integrity of information within the accounting subsystems
  • Respond to and serve as a point of contact for customers and vendors
  • Ensure that the principles and practices that guide Nova Scotia Health are integrated within the support provided by the work
Requirements
  • Graduate of a recognized post-secondary business program with an emphasis in Accounting
  • Minimum one (1) year recent and related experience in a computerized Accounting environment in the past three (3) years
  • Work experience in Accounts Payable preferred
  • Ability to use MS Office (Word, Outlook and Excel), Accounting software and willingness to learn new programs
  • Ability to use general office equipment
  • Knowledge of Accounts Payable and General Accounting
  • Demonstrated accountability
  • Demonstrated judgment and decision making skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service
  • Demonstrated communication and conflict resolution skills

What We Offer
  • Permanent, full-time position, 70 hrs bi-weekly
  • $26.24 Hourly
  • Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan
