Job Description

We are seeking a skilled mental health professional to join our team as a Addiction and Mental Health Therapist Specialist. This role is part of the Addiction and Mental Health Outreach Team based out of the Medicine Hat Police Station.

Responsibilities
  • Perform psychosocial intervention utilizing various treatment modalities to individuals experiencing addiction and/or mental health issues.
  • Work collaboratively with law enforcement and external stakeholders to provide crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management, and treatment services.
Requirements
  • Masters degree in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Nursing with training and experience in mental health assessment and psychotherapy.
  • Active or eligible registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an addiction and mental health field; 5 years preferred.
  • Authorization to do mental health psycho-social intervention required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience working with law enforcement and/or in the criminal justice system.
  • Suicide intervention training required.
  • Experience doing risk assessments required.
Compensation and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $80,000 - $110,000 per year, commensurate with experience. Additional benefits include non-violent crisis intervention certification, CPR/First Aid certification, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
