Job Description:

In the role of Safety Manager, you will be an integral part of ensuring a safe working environment at Kiewit. This position requires a strong passion for safety and a commitment to developing, supporting, and auditing our safety program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive safety plans and procedures tailored to energy projects and other requirements as needed.
  • Ensure that safety protocols align with regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and Kiewit's safety standards.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and assess safety risks.
Training and Education:
  • Design and deliver safety training programs for employees and subcontractors.
  • Provide guidance on safety-related certifications and qualifications required for specific job roles.
  • Promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability across all levels of the organization.
Incident Management and Investigation:
  • Lead investigations into safety incidents, near misses, and accidents.
  • Analyze root causes of incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure timely reporting of all safety incidents in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Regulatory Compliance:
  • Stay informed about changes in safety regulations and standards applicable to energy construction.
  • Coordinate with regulatory authorities during inspections and audits.
Safety Performance Monitoring:
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure safety performance on projects.
  • Conduct regular assessments and audits to evaluate adherence to safety standards and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide timely and accurate safety reports to project management and senior leadership.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in construction safety management, preferably with a focus on energy construction projects.
  • Professional certification in safety management (e.g., NCSO) is preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification, and OSHA/MSHA instructor certifications are also preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety and other relevant safety standards.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and travel to project sites as needed.
