We are seeking a skilled Electrical Systems Design Engineer in our Burnaby, BC office, offering a competitive salary of $85,000-$110,000 per year.
Job ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will direct and coordinate electrical planning and implementation to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and work order requirements.
- Report on work compliance with relevant codes, standards, and procedures;
- Provide designs for cable tray layouts, electrical equipment arrangements, lighting layouts, and LV single-line diagrams;
- Prepare specifications for the purchase of materials and equipment;
- Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software such as AutoCAD & MicroStation/PDS;
- Provide expertise and guidance in problem identification, analysis, and resolution;
- Create technical reports, documentation, calculations, and sketches;
- Develop sustainable work relationships to ensure positive resolutions with all contacts;
- Perform electrical studies as assigned;
- Conceptualize designs for assigned projects;
- Prepare cost estimates and equipment layouts;
- Oversee the implementation of designs;
- Provide resource estimates and schedules for projects;
- Make technical decisions;
- Direct and coordinate other electrical aspects of project teams;
- Maintain records of project resources;
- Participate in department training programs;
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices.
- Support the Business Development Team (BD) to effectively manage and expand existing customer relationships;
- Support the BD team to grow and develop a new customer base;
- Contribute to BD activities, including proposal preparation, conferences, seminars, and networking events.
The ideal candidate should possess:
- 5-8 years' work experience from graduation level, possibly holding a PMP designation or relevant work experience;
- A Professional Engineer's designation in BC or another Canadian Province;
- Demonstrated design skills for distribution-related electrical systems;
- Experience with ETAP, AGI32, AutoCAD, REVIT, and/or MicroStation;
- Ability to conduct detailed calculations to meet engineered standards and applicable codes;
- Knowledge of multiple phases of projects, including preliminary and detailed design, tendering, construction supervision, and commissioning.
