Job Summary

Fraser Health Authority is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team at Royal Columbian Hospital. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing ultrasound examinations, observing patient safety practices, and maintaining accurate records.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and prepare patients for testing by reviewing patients' case history and correlating clinical history with examination to be performed.
  • Perform ultrasound procedures on various sections of the body, including abdominal, obstetrical, pelvic, peripheral vascular, and small parts.
  • Assist in procedural rooms by setting up biopsy trays and providing support and comfort to patients during procedures.
  • Monitor equipment performance and perform quality control duties, including recording results and identifying malfunctioning equipment for repair.
  • Participate in maintaining patient and hospital records by entering data into diagnostic imaging and hospital information systems.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of a recognized training program in Medical Diagnostic Sonography and certified with Sonography Canada or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of theory and practice for Sonography procedures, including abdominal, obstetrical, pelvic, peripheral vascular, and small parts.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, co-workers, physicians, and other health care staff.
