Air Quality Specialist

Elevate your career with ERM's innovative environmental management projects. As a Principal Consultant, Air Quality Scientist, you will lead our consulting team in developing comprehensive air quality and climate change services for clients across Canada.
Key Responsibilities- Manage a team of atmospheric scientists/engineers to deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines.
- Cultivate expert knowledge in air quality dispersion modeling using CALPUFF and AERMOD to provide accurate data-driven solutions.
- Analyze air quality, assess regulatory compliance, and evaluate the applicability of regulations to ensure seamless project execution.
- Develop and implement meteorology and air quality field work strategies, including the installation of instrumentation to collect valuable data.
- Create complete and accurate air quality permits for Alberta and BC, ensuring timely submission and approval.
- Maintain relationships with local regulators to facilitate permit application review and issuance, guaranteeing smooth project progression.
- Prepare emission inventory and NPRI reports, quantify air pollutant emissions, and assess their impacts on the environment.
- Implement climate change projects, such as greenhouse gas inventories, emission reductions, energy efficiency initiatives, public disclosure, and verification.
- Write air quality management and monitoring plans to establish effective strategies for clients.
- Deliver recommendations and reporting of results, providing actionable insights to drive business decisions.
- Sustain high levels of productivity while meeting project scope, budget, and schedule expectations, ensuring exceptional quality standards.
- Foster strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and subcontractors to drive successful project outcomes.
- Possess a BSc in environmental engineering, atmospheric science, or a related field; MS and/or PE are preferred. Alternatively, demonstrate equivalent experience.
- Accumulate 6+ years (10 years preferred) of direct consulting or industry experience, showcasing expertise in air quality analysis and management.
- Proven track record in leading air dispersion modeling programs using CALPUFF and AERMOD.
- Experience working on Environmental Assessments to develop a deep understanding of air emissions and emission reporting processes.
- Proficiency in hands-on spreadsheet and database comprehension to analyze complex data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey technical information effectively.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed.
We offer an attractive compensation package, including an annual base pay range of $109,733–$139,883 (CAD), which is determined by relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business needs. Additionally, we provide a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, and a 401(k) plan, among other perks.
