About the Position

The Manitoba Government is seeking a highly skilled and experienced legal researcher to join our team in the Court of King's Bench. As a Senior Legal Researcher, you will play a critical role in providing expert research and analysis on complex legal matters. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic team and contribute to the administration of justice in Manitoba.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct extensive and complex legal research relating to matters before the Court
  • Prepare legal memoranda and other written material
  • Engage in detailed discussions with members of the judiciary about legal issues
  • Provide oversight to law students participating in the Court of King's Bench externship program

Requirements
  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or Juris Doctor (J.D) degree
  • Professional and academic experience and/or achievements that demonstrate expertise and skill in conducting lengthy and complicated legal research
  • Excellent analytical skills, including the ability to recognize and assess legal implications and policy options
  • Superior understanding of the principles of judicial independence
