We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Planning Expert to join our team at Scotiabank. This exciting opportunity is ideal for an individual with a strong background in the financial services industry and excellent client relationship building skills.

About the Role

The successful candidate will play a key role in managing relationships with our most affluent clients, providing them with exceptional financial planning experience by coordinating the activities of the MD Signature Team as they relate to the client.

Key Responsibilities
  • Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Be accountable for the identification and development of new opportunities to prospect and grow the MD Signature client base, while ensuring retention of clients through focused relationship management and co-ownership of the client's financial plan.
  • Participate in client events and facilitating seminars and information meetings throughout the region, as well as implement marketing strategies to provide advice and information concerning investment programs and related services.
  • Assess client objectives and risk tolerance, calibrate investment solutions based on client input, and develop and implement appropriate written Investment Policy Statements.
  • Analyze securities for transfer in-kind due to capital gain/loss reasons, and review credit quality and duration of fixed income investments.
  • Communicate and explain to clients the individual fund manager's strategy and overall portfolio performance.
  • Conduct ongoing client reviews including discussion of portfolio performance and appropriateness of objectives.
  • Further your knowledge of advanced financial planning concepts when not meeting with clients or identifying new clients.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, ensuring adherence to business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, and conduct risk.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A minimum of 8 years relevant experience in the financial services industry.
  • A university degree in business, commerce, or financial planning.
  • A Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designation or completion of level 1 of the CFA program.
  • Excellent client-focused skills with strong relationship building abilities.
  • Strong business intelligence with a clear understanding of complex multi-stakeholder demands.
  • The ability to articulate the firm's macro view of the economy and incorporate this perspective into clients' investment goals and strategies.
