Environmental Services Specialist

Job Summary
The Environmental Services Specialist will play a vital role in maintaining a safe and clean environment for residents and staff at Simcoe County's long-term care facilities. This position requires a strong commitment to quality service and adherence to organizational policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with ensuring that the requirements of the Ministry of Long-Term Care and other relevant legislation are met.
- Perform daily upkeep of assigned equipment, order supplies, and monitor inventory as assigned by the Environmental Services Supervisor.
- Participate in the infection control program and assist with the orientation of new staff as required.
- Work closely with the Environmental Services Supervisor to maintain a safe, clean, and sanitary environment.
Requirements
- Completion of grade 11 or equivalent.
- Ability to successfully complete a reading and comprehension assessment.
- Proven knowledge in housekeeping and building maintenance and repair practices in a similar setting.
- Flexible with willingness to learn new tasks, multi-task, and adapt to quickly changing priorities.
- Proven knowledge of floor care.
- Good interpersonal and oral communication skills.
- Able to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong customer service skills with a recognition that errors and omissions may result in serious consequences for residents and staff.
- Successful passing of a criminal reference check with vulnerable sector screening that is less than six (6) months old upon hire.
- A minimum of three (3) months experience in housekeeping and/or maintenance in a related environment.
Physical Demands
- Constant standing and walking during work periods, turning, stooping, bending, and lifting.
- Ability to lift 50lbs.
Working Conditions
- Working with cleaning materials, exposed to dirt, dust, smells, etc.
- This position is located in a long-term care facility, exposure to illnesses and germs are possible on a daily basis.
