About the Role

Canada's National Ballet School is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Development Associate to join our Advancement Department. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting our fundraising priorities and helping us achieve our mission to share the transformative power of dance with people of all ages, abilities, and aspirations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain relationships with major gift donors and prospects, including researching and identifying new opportunities.
  • Develop and implement solicitation strategies, including creating individual solicitation plans and supporting Senior Management in executing these plans.
  • Assist in the creation of fundraising communications, including letters of intent and proposals, and support the cultivation and stewardship of major and champion-level donors.
  • Support the Chief of Advancement and the department's donor stewardship activities, including researching prospective future steps members and supporting the Future Steps solicitations and project goals.
  • Attend donor events, research and participate in special projects, and provide administrative support as needed.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary education; certificate or training in fundraising or arts management is an asset.
  • Minimum 3 years working in a charitable sector and/or fundraising environment and minimum 2 years in a role with direct fundraising (donor-facing) responsibilities, ideally in a major gifts context.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and nurture strong relationships with donors.
  • Creative, flexible, and adaptable to changing priorities, with a high level of organization, attention to detail, and efficiency.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and goal-oriented environment, with a calm and problem-solving attitude.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Raisers Edge.
