Job Title: Autism Educator

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Autism Educator to join our team at the Geneva Centre for Autism. As an Autism Educator, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with autism to develop essential life skills and achieve their full potential.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for instructing students in the formation and development of sound for speech using hearing aids and other devices. You will also assist students in developing life skills, collaborate with specialists to develop programs for clients' special needs, and develop individualized education and intervention plans to facilitate their readaptation and independence objectives.

Responsibilities:
  • Instruct students in the formation and development of sound for speech using hearing aids and other devices
  • Assist students in developing life skills, such as daily living skills, social skills, and communication skills
  • Collaborate with specialists, such as speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, and psychologists, to develop programs for clients' special needs
  • Develop individualized education and intervention plans to facilitate clients' readaptation and independence objectives
  • Provide support and guidance to clients and their families to ensure a smooth transition to independent living
Requirements:
  • Education: College/CEGEP diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years of experience working with individuals with autism
  • Language: English
  • Work setting: Urban area, associations and non-profit organizations
  • Computer and technology knowledge: MS Office
  • Security and safety: Criminal record check, immunization records, vulnerable sector check
  • Transportation/travel information: Own transportation
  • Work conditions and physical capabilities: Work under pressure, tight deadlines, attention to detail, physically demanding, bending, crouching, kneeling
  • Personal suitability: Client focus, efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral communication, excellent written communication, flexibility, initiative, judgement, organized, dependability
