About the RoleThis full-time position involves working in a fast-paced veterinary clinic environment, assisting veterinarians with medical procedures, administering medications, and providing emotional support to pets and their owners. As an Animal Care Specialist, you will be responsible for collecting samples, performing laboratory tests, handling and restraining animals, and maintaining accurate records.
Key Responsibilities- Care for animals undergoing treatment and surgery by providing food, water, and basic care needs.
- Assist veterinarians before, during, and after surgery by preparing equipment, setting up operating rooms, and handling instruments.
- Administer medications and vaccines as directed by veterinarians.
- Counsel clients on animal health care, including nutrition, behavior, and disease prevention.
- Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, handling phone calls, and updating patient records.
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in an animal care setting, preferably in a veterinary clinic or hospital.
- Post-secondary education in a related field, such as veterinary technology or animal science.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with veterinarians, clients, and other staff members.
- A high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
The Animal Care Specialist will work in a well-equipped veterinary clinic with a team of experienced professionals. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment, think critically, and make sound decisions in emergency situations.
