Facilities Maintenance Operations Director

Job Summary
The Director of Facilities Maintenance Operations is responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership to facilities maintenance and operations activities at designated owned properties within Fraser Health.
This role involves overseeing designated owned properties, providing strategic and technical expertise, and contributing to the effective direction of the department.
The successful candidate will have a proven ability to define and amalgamate diverse organizational requirements, resolve issues, and develop long-range plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Directs and oversees designated owned properties in a manner consistent with industry best practices.
- Provides strategic and technical expertise in designated subject matter areas throughout all properties of the Facilities Maintenance Operations portfolio.
- Manages the recruitment and professional development of employees through the formal assessment of training needs and development of training plans.
- Develops and implements operating and facilities budgets, ensuring the efficient utilization of financial resources.
- Provides effective support to the Facilities Planning and Capital Project Implementation portfolios to ensure that projects are compatible with existing and planned building systems and maintenance protocols.
- Develops and prioritizes capital infrastructure replacement plans, consistent with a risk management-based needs assessment and Fraser Health's long-range and strategic Master Service Plans and Capital Plans.
- Ensures compliance with relevant Acts and Regulations pertaining to the portfolio.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a Master's degree and professional designation in a relevant discipline, supplemented by ten years' recent, related experience in progressively more complex and senior management leadership roles in a large, unionized, multi-site organization.
They will also possess demonstrated working knowledge of building systems, operations, and maintenance practices in a complex, multi-site health care environment, as well as proven ability to lead and coach team members.
Competencies
The Director of Facilities Maintenance Operations will demonstrate the leadership practices of the Fraser Health Leadership Framework of Clear, Caring, and Courageous, and create the conditions for people to succeed.
They will also have a solid understanding of information systems used in the management of facilities and be able to operate related equipment, including related software applications.
Working Environment
The successful candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment and have the ability to take action in a crisis management environment.
They will also have the physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
