Laboratory Veterinarian and Director

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Laboratory Veterinarian and Director to lead our Animal Care and Veterinary Services team at Carleton University. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing veterinary support for teaching and research animals, ensuring the accreditation status of our animal care and use program, and supporting the overall institutional animal ethics and animal care program.
Key Responsibilities- Provide veterinary support for teaching and research animals, including clinical, diagnostic, and surgical services.
- Ensure the accreditation status of the animal care and use program is maintained.
- Support the overall institutional animal ethics and animal care program.
- Develop and implement long-term financial and facility planning for the Animal Care and Veterinary Services Department.
- Lead the animal care vivarium program and ensure compliance with relevant governing legislation and policies.
- Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine with a license to practice veterinary medicine in Ontario.
- Minimum of five years of previous experience in animal veterinary experience, including clinical experience, laboratory, animal medicine, and science.
- At least two years of leadership and management experience.
- Knowledge of and experience with regulatory matters pertaining to ethics of animal care and use in research, teaching, and testing.
