Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Sterile Processing Specialist to join our team at Humber River Health. As a key member of our Sterile Processing Department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain infection control principles for decontamination and sterilization of medical devices
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on medical equipment to ensure optimal functionality
  • Receive, sort, and sterilize medical devices to meet hospital standards
  • Manage inventory levels of medical supplies to ensure seamless hospital operations
  • Conduct thorough cleaning and sanitation of work areas to maintain a safe and healthy environment
  • Provide training and orientation to new team members to ensure a smooth onboarding process
  • Conduct environmental safety monitoring activities to identify and mitigate potential risks
  • Transport medical equipment and supplies to various hospital departments
  • Perform other assigned duties to support the Sterile Processing Department

Requirements

  • Completion of a Medical Device Reprocessing Certificate program
  • At least two years of recent experience in reprocessing and sterilization of medical devices
  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including standing for long periods and lifting heavy equipment
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Excellent attendance record and ability to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays
