Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Insurance Broker Associate to join our team in Winnipeg. As an Insurance Broker Associate, you will be responsible for operating as part of the National Centre of Excellence for Construction, serving clients across Canada.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Account Executives in assigned regions to develop coverage strategy and marketing initiatives for renewal and prospective business in the Construction and Contracting segment;
  • Process and/or issue new policies and policy renewals, changes, additions, deletions, and cancellations;
  • Analyze client-specific risk exposure and details coverage requirements, preparing and presenting marketing proposals for renewals and new business;
  • Negotiate, establish, and maintain strong relationships with the underwriting community for the ultimate benefit of the client;
  • Follow up with insurer to confirm terms of negotiated contract(s) are met;
  • Communicate directly with underwriters to follow up or obtain additional information;
  • Review and proofread all assignments, obtaining proper signatures and dispensing as appropriate;
  • Calculate adjustments and premiums on policies and other insurance documents;
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and direction to Broking Coordinator(s);
  • Lead by example by demonstrating and sharing with all lines of business the importance of best practice;
  • Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of commercial insurance or broking experience required;
  • Experience with construction domain is preferred;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, both verbally and written;
  • Client-focused and confirmed relationship-building skills;
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a key member of a team and independently with minimum supervision;
  • Meticulous attention to detail, refined organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task;
  • Shown ability to prioritize challenging requirements and deadlines under pressure;
  • Must have strong computer skills and be proficient with the Microsoft Office Package.
