Accountant Position at Newlands Group

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accountant to manage property management accounting functions and investment reporting across multiple companies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Property Management Accounting
    • Oversee lease management and administration, including tenant billings and rent collection for commercial properties.
    • Perform year-end reconciliations of TMI (Taxes, Maintenance, Insurance) costs against tenant recoveries.
    • Manage cash flows for rental property bank accounts, including cash calls and distributions.
    • Prepare year-end working papers for submission to external accountants.
    • Generate quarterly compliance reports for banking institutions.
    • Report to property owners on rental activities and operational performance.
  • Investment Reporting
    • Track and monitor investments in real estate properties and various projects.
    • Record and report cash distributions and contributions related to investments.
    • Prepare comprehensive investment reports for owners and stakeholders.
  • Cash Management
    • Conduct treasury functions to ensure sufficient cash balances across multiple corporate accounts.
    • Prepare weekly cash reports, summarizing changes in bank balances and ending cash positions.
  • Other Duties
    • Perform additional accounting tasks as needed to support the financial operations of the business.
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • CPA designation (or working towards it) is an asset.
    • 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in property management or real estate.
    • Strong proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Yardi, or MRI).
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other reporting tools.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
