At School District #53 (Okanagan Similkameen), we are seeking a highly skilled Custodian to join our team.

About the Role

The Custodian will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and security of our facilities. This includes following the district cleaning program, securing facilities, monitoring access, performing minor maintenance tasks, and ensuring that all necessary supplies are available.

We are looking for someone with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, as well as six months of experience in custodial work within the last four years.

A certification as a building service worker or custodian is preferred. The successful candidate will have demonstrated knowledge of cleaning materials, methods, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of all facilities
  • Secure facilities by checking windows and doors, setting intruder alarms, and reporting any security issues
  • Monitor access to facilities and provide assistance as needed
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks on facilities and equipment
  • Order and maintain supplies of cleaning materials and equipment
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • Six months of experience in custodial work within the last four years
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cleaning materials, methods, and equipment
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving skills
Benefits

We offer a competitive salary of $$$54,000 - $64,000 per year**, depending on experience. In addition to your base salary, you will also receive benefits such as health and dental insurance, paid time off, and opportunities for professional development.
