We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our team as a Laboratory Assistant in our Food Residue department.

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing sample preparation and procedures prior to analyses, reviewing LIMS summary reports to plan and organize daily work, and following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) when conducting work.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing LIMS summary reports to plan and organize daily work
  • Following SOPs when conducting work
  • Performing some basic testing procedures
  • Performing routine operational maintenance/verification for support equipment
  • Identifying any non-routine samples and seeking guidance on procedures for handling
  • Meeting quality and TAT specifications required by the client and ensuring samples are processed within holding time requirements
  • Identifying and communicating procedural non-conformances to Supervisor
  • Employing proper laboratory techniques to minimize risk of mislabeling, sample mix-up and cross-contamination between samples and other materials
  • Providing general lab support including but not limited to preparing sample blanks, sorting and distributing samples, archiving and disposing dated samples, acid-base neutralization, and solvent waste disposal
  • Providing Supervisor with updates on workstation status including advance notification of any delays
  • Adhering to Bureau Veritas Code of Ethics Policy
  • Supporting and complying with all Bureau Veritas policies, Quality System and Health & Safety program
  • Participating, when requested in department and health and safety meetings
  • Participating, when requested in internal and external audits
  • Keeping work area clean, neat and organized
  • Maintaining training records and relevant qualifications
  • Performing other miscellaneous duties as assigned by senior staff

The ideal candidate will have a positive outlook, good time-management, communication, multi-tasking and priority setting skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Bureau Veritas is committed to providing fair and competitive pay. The salary range for this role is $19.61, with pay varying by work location and depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location.
