Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and empathetic Veterinary Assistant to join our team at Bedford Parks Animal Hospital. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our veterinary staff with various tasks and treatments, ensuring a warm and welcoming environment for our pet parents, and creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinary staff with tasks and treatments, including processing payments and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Create a welcoming environment for pet owners and their pets, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a positive experience.
  • Develop and maintain a clean and safe environment for patients, including the reception area, pet holding areas, and common areas.
  • Take initiative and work independently to complete tasks and projects, demonstrating a willingness to learn and adapt to changing situations.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay up-to-date on veterinary services and medical office procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Office Assistant program certificate an asset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, staff, and animals.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
  • Physical ability to lift, bend, and stand for long periods, with the ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment.
