Global Trade Compliance Counsel

We are seeking an experienced Global Trade Compliance Counsel to join our dynamic team at Lenovo. As a key member of our compliance organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the company's trade compliance program is robust, effective, and aligned with evolving regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze and interpret trade laws and regulations applicable to Lenovo, identifying potential risks and opportunities for improvement.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on trade compliance matters, including classification of technology, software, and source code, technology transfers, and supply chain restrictions.
- Develop and implement process enhancements to embed new regulatory requirements into business operations, ensuring seamless integration with existing processes.
- Design and advise on trade compliance policies, operating procedures, and technology control plans, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
- Partner with leaders in legal, engineering, and supply chain to drive large-scale, complex supply chain initiatives, ensuring trade compliance is integrated into all aspects of the business.
- Develop and deliver trade compliance training programs for various audiences, including classification of technology, software, and source code.
- Identify and mitigate trade compliance risks, ensuring the company's trade compliance program is robust and effective.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in advising multinational businesses on trade compliance matters, including US export controls, imports/customs, sanctions, and compliance program development.
- Experience practicing with a top-tier law firm and/or multinational consulting group.
- In-house experience in the high-tech industry and/or encryption is strongly preferred.
- Subject matter expertise with non-US export and import regulatory regimes.
- Experience in government relations and trade strategy deployment.
- Ability to quickly demonstrate competence to gain the trust of business stakeholders to achieve a desired objective.
- Self-motivated individual with the ability to work smart and fast independently.
- Problem-solving skills: Proactively identifies and solves complex problems, thinking beyond existing solutions and frameworks.
- Comfortable in balancing competing priorities and changes in scope/direction to align with team and business objectives.
- Excellent communication skills: Ability to clearly articulate and visually present complex legal advice for senior executives; excellent written work product (compliance policies, procedures, training).
Lenovo offers a competitive salary range of $140K - $185K, plus bonus and/or commission opportunities. We also offer a range of benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
