About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Machinist to join our team at Canada One Steel Inc. as a key member of our production team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Compute dimensions and tolerances of machine parts with precision and accuracy.
  • Measure and lay out work pieces in preparation for assembly, ensuring efficient production processes.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts, and tables to inform machining decisions.
  • Repair and maintain machine tools and parts to ensure optimal performance.
  • Set up and adjust production machinery and tools to meet production requirements.
  • Fabricate and assemble components and machine parts to close tolerance, adhering to specifications.
  • Maintain and calibrate precision measuring instruments to ensure accurate measurements.
  • Document and report any deviations from specifications and tolerances, maintaining inspection records and completing inspection reports.
  • Verify dimensions of parts machined using precise measuring instruments, such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Operate conventional and computer-controlled machine tools to produce high-quality parts.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a related field, with a focus on precision machining and tooling.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Physical stamina to perform tasks that require repetitive motion and lifting up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software and computer numerical control (CNC) machines.
  • Familiarity with specialized machining processes, such as ultrasonic, plasma ARC, and laser beam machining.
  • Knowledge of automated transfer machines, automatic lathes, and other production equipment.

This is a permanent, full-time position with a 37.5-hour workweek. The primary language of work is English.
