Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Occupational Health Nurse to join our team at McCain Foods in Grand Falls, New Brunswick. As an Occupational Health Nurse, you will play a critical role in developing, coordinating, and implementing a comprehensive employee health service program that meets government and corporate guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive employee health service program that includes preventative care, first aid, and health surveillance.
  • Provide training and education to employees on health and safety programs, including hearing conservation, ergonomics, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Evaluate physical conditions of employees, take vital signs, and treat injuries/illnesses.
  • Refer employees to offsite medical facilities as needed and order supplies and file records.
  • Assist with management of worker's compensation claims, accommodations, and return-to-work programs.
  • Prepare documents to be submitted to WorkSafe NB.
  • Manage and coordinate site first aid program, including instruction of standard first aid CPR-C & AED.
  • Provide education and health resources to employees, including mental health resources, support, and awareness.
  • Develop and manage company-wide wellness initiatives and activities.
  • Coordinate and administer onsite vaccination clinics, such as flu shots.
  • Support attendance management by working with employees on attendance improvement plans.
  • Employee contact-tracing and follow-up to ensure employee safety and proper return-to-work practices.
  • Communicate with client groups providing notification of absences and expected return dates.

Requirements:

  • B.S. degree in Nursing (RN) or LPN diploma required.
  • 3+ years of related experience and/or training.
  • Spirometry testing, respiratory surveillance, and occupational hearing conservationist preferred.
  • Certified Occupational Nurse (COHN) or Certified Occupational Nurse Specialist (COHNS) preferred.
  • New Brunswick RN or LPN license required.
