About the Role:

We are seeking a Senior Debt Relief Counsellor to join our Alternative Solutions Group in our Toronto office. The successful candidate will be part of an effective team built around a client-centric delivery model. They participate in the assessment and preparation of files to facilitate alternative solutions to debt relief.

Responsibilities:

  • Client Consultation: Meet with clients, over the phone or in person, to understand their financial situation and debt challenges.
  • Debt Analysis: Analyze clients' debts and financial status to develop personalized debt relief plans.
  • Plan Implementation: Implement debt relief strategies, such as debt consolidation, settlement, or management plans.
  • Compliance: Ensure all actions comply with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Documentation: Collect, maintain, and obtain detailed records of client interactions, set up agreements, and prepare client files.
  • Client Education: Educate clients on financial management and strategies to avoid future debt issues.
  • Follow-Up: Regularly follow up with clients to monitor progress and adjust plans as needed.

Requirements:

  • Great interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with team members, management, and debtors.
  • Experience in banking or lending with a financial institution with a specialization in mortgages.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and connect with clients and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work flexible hours in accordance with business needs (in-office position).
  • Ability to work well with time-sensitive work and to be aware of critical deadlines.
  • Previous work experience in insolvencies, credit counseling, or financial sales is an asset but not required.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and in writing.

  • Graduation from a College/University.
