About the Role

Reporting to the Group Leader, Analytical Services, this role is responsible for conducting various laboratory tests using specialized equipment, such as optical emissions spectrometers, Leco C/S analyzers, and atomic absorption spectrometers. You will work closely with a team to ensure efficient operations and maintain high-quality results.

Responsibilities
  • Safety Leadership: Adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures, promoting a culture of safety excellence within the organization.
  • Analysis and Quality Control: Conduct routine quality control tasks to maintain accuracy of results, recognizing problems and correcting them promptly.
  • Training and Development: Use your knowledge to train other technicians and trainees on Analytical Services and assaying procedures.
  • Instrumentation and Maintenance: Set up and optimize instrumental sensitivity during instrument set-up, recognizing interferences between elements and taking corrective action.
  • Result Entry and Reporting: Enter results into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for direct reporting to Operations, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of information.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have a graduate degree in Chemistry or a related field, or equivalent experience. A two-year chemical sciences program or BC Certified Assayer designation is also acceptable. This is a unionized position with United Steelworkers Local 480 Office and Technical.

We offer an estimated annual salary of $68,880 based on industry standards for similar roles in the region.
