The Opportunity:
This is a 4-month work term opportunity with Ciena Canada, Inc.
How You Will Contribute:
As a Hardware Design Engineer, you will be responsible for reviewing alternate components for 2nd source qualification and obsolescence, executing hardware verification plans, debugging prototype hardware using test equipment, and modifying circuit packs to enable testing or to fix issues uncovered during testing.

The Must Haves:
- Electrical Engineering program or equivalent
- Familiarity with lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and test sets) and measurement techniques would be beneficial
- Understanding of high-speed signaling, transmission lines, digital and analog design
The Assets:
- Experience designing and debugging hardware is an asset
- Experience with PCB schematic capture and layout tools is an asset
Compensation and Benefits (Students):
The pay range for this position is $24.50-$33.00/hour
Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.
In addition to competitive compensation, Ciena offers students access to the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), company-paid holidays, paid sick leave, and vacation pay as required by applicable laws.
