About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to join our team at Apple, responsible for setting the direction and architecture of new and innovative on-device and cloud-based media management features for the creative space.

As a key member of the Creativity Apps team, you will work closely with human interface designers, quality assurance teams, and cross-functional engineering teams to design, implement, and maintain robust cloud syncing, media management, efficient on-device storage and collaboration solutions.

Responsibilities

  1. Design and implement scalable, maintainable, and testable code for cloud syncing and media management features.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration with existing products and services.
  3. Develop and maintain high-quality APIs and frameworks for media encoding and playback.
  4. Work with relational databases (SQLite, PostgreSQL, SQL, Core Data, etc.) to optimize performance and efficiency.
  5. Contribute to the development of performance tuning and optimization techniques for memory, scheduling, IO, networking protocols, or databases.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in writing and shipping reliable, scalable, maintainable, and testable code.
  • Proficient in Swift, Objective-C, C++, or C programming languages.
  • Experience with Apple platforms, including iOS and macOS.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and project management skills with ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building APIs or frameworks.
  • Experience working with CloudKit.
  • Background in relational databases.

Compensation

The base salary range for this role is between $143,500 and $271,400, depending on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
