Job Summary

Interior Health Authority is seeking a Recreation Therapy Worker to join our team. As a Recreation Therapy Worker, you will play a vital role in enhancing the lives of our residents through the implementation of engaging and therapeutic recreation programs.

About the Role

As a Recreation Therapy Worker, you will work within a client-centered model and as an integral part of our interdisciplinary team. Your responsibilities will include executing established individual and group leisure/recreation therapy programs, setting up and organizing furnishings and equipment for programs and special events, and actively participating with clients during outings.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized and group recreation therapy programs that cater to the diverse needs and interests of our residents.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff, supervisors, and therapists to ensure seamless and supportive care environments.
  • Provide guidance and support to residents in participating in recreation programs, promoting their engagement and enjoyment.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to recreation therapy services.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the evaluation of recreation therapy programs.
Requirements
  • Grade 12
  • Completion of a recognized recreation course(s) plus two year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Class 4 Driver's License for Recreation Therapy Worker | Bus Driver positions.
