We are seeking a highly motivated and culturally sensitive Community Development Specialist to join our team at the Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay (CBHSSJB).
Job SummaryThe successful candidate will work closely with community members, organizations, and stakeholders to identify and address the needs of the population. This includes participating in community organization and development, executing action programs, and providing support to individuals and groups.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct needs assessments and develop community-based programs
- Collaborate with community members, organizations, and stakeholders to identify and address community needs
- Develop and implement action plans to address community issues
- Provide support and resources to individuals and groups
- Work closely with CLSC Community workers, NNADAP workers, and other medical social services staff
- Diploma of college studies in social work techniques or social service techniques
- Knowledge of Cree culture and social/health issues in Eeyou Istchee
- Ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds
- Fluency in English; fluency in Cree and French is an asset
- Valid driver's license Class 5
